Learn the simple steps to install Adobe’s Acrobat Reader DC using Wine on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Jammy JellyFIsh Linux for reading PDF files.
Adobe’s Acrobat Reader DC is a program that allows us to open and read PDF files and even edit them. The basic version of Acrobat Reader is free of charge and can be easily downloaded from the Internet. However, with the free version of the program, you only have access to a subset of the available tools. To use features such as protecting and converting PDF files, you need the paid version of Adobe Acrobat.
Apart from it, users can use the program to add notes and markers to their documents, rearrange the pages within the file, or convert the file to a different format. It is also possible to protect your PDFs with a password or share them with other people with Acrobat Reader. The DC in Acrobat Reader stands for Document Cloud.
Since the reader in the DC version can be connected to cloud services, it is possible to access your files across different devices. But in addition to this function, the DC version offers other advantages compared to other programs. This makes it possible to use integrated text recognition to scan paper documents and convert them into PDFs.
It is available for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, however, unfortunately, Acrobat Reader DC’s developer i.e Adobe has discontinued the Linux version of adobe reader. Hence, we are left with one option which is using Wine to install Adobe’s Acrobat Reader DC on Linux such as Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
